As with all things, taking the shortcut isn't always the best route and supermarket hair care products are not the same quality as professional ones, hence the cheaper price point.
In the salon, we use the best quality colours, shampoos and conditioners and styling products. We trim your hair to get rid of the dead ends, we refresh your colour, apply conditioning and repairing treatments and use the best styling products so everything we put on your hair is doing it good which is why you leave with soft, gorgeous looking, shiny hair.
You are paying your well-earned money to have the best services, so why would you want to wash that money down the drain by saving on your shampoo and conditioner?
If your hair isn't getting the care and help it needs in-between services it won't stay healthy and shiny, and that is why a lot of people complain about not being able to achieve the same quality style at home. You can't expect to have great results with cheaper products.
Although supermarket brands do contain many of the same ingredients found in salon products, they only contain small amounts and are watered down, hence the cheap price point. They typically contain chemicals which can strip your hair of its natural oils, dry it out and even strip your hair colour. They're also known for diluting products with fillers which leave behind a waxy build up.
Professional brands consist of vitamins, oils and minerals that are truly nourishing and hydrate your hair from within. They don't strip your colour they will, in-fact, protect your colour from fading and make it look its best with added softness and shine. As professional brands are more concentrated you do get more washes out of them as you don't need to use as much and, therefore, you will won't need to replace it as often and your hair will benefit in the long run by being healthy and vibrant.
Your stylist is knowledgeable and trained to be able to advise you on which shampoo, conditioner and styling products are right for your hair texture, density, lifestyle and desired result. When you purchase from a supermarket or chemist, you are simply taking a guess and more than likely spending money on items that won't give you the results you actually want or need.
